Characteristics and determinants of professional burnout among early career psychiatrists in Russia — results of a cross-sectional study

The aim of the present study was to examine characteristics early career psychiatrists’ (ECP) work in Russia and assess prevalence severity burnout them. Material methods. Early Career Psychiatrists Council Russian Society conducted an anonymous online survey ECP July-August 2019, consisted a structured screening for professional using Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). final sample 165 people. Results. A high level according at least one MBI scales revealed 79 (78.2%) women 39 (60.9%) men (p=0.017). Mean values Emotional Exhaustion scale corresponded 23.33±8.97 17.97±8.49 (p=0.003), Depersonalization — 10.46±4.81 9.16±4.22 (p=0.083), Personal Accomplishment 33.02±5.98 35.32±5.75 (p=0.026) men, respectively. following risk factors were identified: female sex, overlapping several working positions, difficulties due changes documentation requirements introduced since start career. Protective development were: private clinic, satisfaction with atmosphere, subjective estimation quality life as above average or good possible. Conclusion. established 71.5% Russia, which corresponds highest rates psychiatrists international national studies. Further research is needed ways prevent Russia.
